Mariam Adedoyin-Olowe is currently a lecturer in Big Data Analytics & Statistical Techniques in the School of Computing & Digital Technology, Birmingham City University (BCU), United Kingdom. She is an ardent researcher with interest in Data Mining, Machine Learning and Social Media Data Analytics.


Mariam Adedoyin-Olowe started her career journey in the early 90s as a Confidential Secretary at the then Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), Nigeria. She later joined the law firm of A - R Kadiri & Co. as Administrative Manager where she strategically overhauled the operations of the firm and was instrumental to the increase in the client base and the tremendous financial turn-around of the firm.


She also had a three-year stint managing TDAN Farms Limited, a start-up Fish farm before she proceeded to the United Kingdom for further studies. Mariam graduated with a First-Class Honours Bachelor’s degree in Computing from the University Of Portsmouth, United Kingdom and proceeded further to bag a Doctorate degree in Computing Science from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, United Kingdom.


She is the Principal Mentor/Lead Consultant at Insight Mentoring & Educational Services Limited, an organisation that is passionate about mentoring students at all educational levels across the world. The organisation also offers educational consultancy for elementary schools and colleges in Nigeria. Mariam has been an impactful student/peer Mentor for over 6 years in the United Kingdom where she worked as Student Mentor for the University of Portsmouth in conjunction with Portsmouth City Council to mentor high school and college students. She has also single-handedly mentored several university students at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in the UK to successful completion of their degrees.


She has published a good number of academic papers and presented at acclaimed academic conferences around the world. She has also spoken at different Youth and Educational seminars. Mariam has a keen passion for mentoring and public speaking. She is married with 2 children.
